Baik Art

1F~2F, 74-13,Yulgok-ro 3-gil, Jongno District, Seoul

Baik Art explores the circulation potential of contemporary practices through experiments in archiving and digital transformation. Mella Jaarsma, who adapts performance to expose social structures and the alienation of nature; Kim Joon, who translates field-recorded sounds into physical media for multisensory experiences; and Sung Neung Kyung, who extends the traces of performance into archival records, each experiment with ways of transforming ephemeral media into collectible forms. In contrast, Chu Mirim combines analog materials, digital screens, and data-driven painting to visualize the sensory structures of a screen-centered society, investigating how digital transformation alters both perceptual experience and visual language. Through such practices, Baik Art reconfigures fragile, transient acts into distributable artworks and seeks new models of collection within the frameworks of the market and institution. Baik Art is a contemporary art gallery based in Los Angeles, Seoul, and Jakarta. Established in Los Angeles in 2014, Baik Art has introduced artists whose works deal with individual hybridity, globalization, and cultural diaspora. In 2016, Baik Art expanded its presence to Seoul, promoting an active artistic exchange between the two cities. In 2022, Baik Art launched its third location in Jakarta while Baik Art Seoul simultaneously relocated and reopened with an inaugural solo exhibition of Han Youngsoo.
