Sung Neung Kyung

Sung Neung Kyung portrait

Sung Neung Kyung (b. 1944) is a leading Korean conceptual artist who pioneered experimental art through the use of non-traditional media such as newspapers, photography, and performance. In Sung’s practice, the newspaper became a central material for investigating art as immaterial information, forming the basis of his distinctive conceptual language. Sung’s works move beyond conventional categories of painting and sculpture, revealing both the structures of social reality and the properties of media, and in doing so expand the possibilities of art.
