Kukje Gallery Hanok

1F, 48-14, Samcheong-ro, Jongno District, Seoul

Since its establishment in 1982, Kukje Gallery has introduced exhibitions of leading international artists to Korea while promoting the global presence of Korean artists. In this showcase, the gallery revisits such a model through the new work of Yeondoo Jung. The Inevitable Blues series presents single-channel videos of individual instrumental performances, such as contrabass and saxophone, produced as limited editions that include AP (Artist Proofs), following a distribution model akin to printmaking. This approach demonstrates that digital video is not confined to the condition of infinite reproducibility, but can instead inherit the scarcity and collecting practices of the traditional art market. Through this, Kukje Gallery explores how digital art can be institutionalized and collected within the frameworks of both the market and the institution.
